Roundup of Wednesday’s 1st meeting at the Fitzroy Tavern

Thanks for a very nice first meeting in Fitzrovia yesterday. Although it was too busy and noisy inside for us, I think we managed to have many good conversations outside the pub, with fairly mild temperatures on this mid-January day. A lot of good ideas were thrown around. I think we probably all saw that there is a large number of books related to cycling that’s been published, and what we find in a regular book shop nowadays is only the tip of the iceberg. Historical books about the bicycle, touring books, photo books, travel books, books on road racing, biographies of big racers … there are plenty different angles that have been taken on the subject.

So we also made a decision on the first book to read, which is Tim Krabbe’s The Rider

Tim Krabbe - The Rider

Written by Krabbe in the 1970’s, it is an unfiltered account of what’s going on inside the head of a professional cyclist during a race.

Happy reading everyone!

(I will confirm next date & venue shortly.)
